Listening carefully to the people who live here and understanding the issues that affect their lives is an important part of representing Ward 2.

But listening is only the beginning.

A member of Council also has to consider different perspectives, understand the information available, ask questions, work with Town staff and other members of Council, and make decisions about competing needs and limited resources.

My professional experience taught me that caring about people and making responsible decisions have to go together. Not every request can be met. Not every decision will satisfy everyone. Good decisions require listening, judgement and an understanding of the resources available.

That’s the approach I would bring to Council.

I will listen. Residents deserve to know that their concerns and ideas have been heard and taken seriously.

I will do my homework. Responsible decisions require understanding the issue, asking questions and considering the information available.

I will work with others. Serving Ward 2 requires collaboration with residents, Town staff, community organizations and other members of Council.

I will be responsible with public resources. Tax dollars must be used carefully while ensuring residents receive the services our growing community needs.

I will make difficult decisions when necessary and be accountable. Council has to consider the needs of the whole community and sometimes that means making difficult decisions. When I make a decision, I will be prepared to explain it and stand behind it.

I would be honoured to bring my experience, judgement and commitment to service to the Council table as your Ward 2 representative.
